Biography
Margie Castro-Gomez competed in judo at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, when it was still only a demonstration event for women. Castro-Gomez won three medals at the Pan American Games, golds as a heavyweight in 1983 and 1987 and a silver in the 1987 open class. At the World Championships she won three medals in heavyweight, a silver in 1982 and bronze medals in 1984 and 1987. Castro-Gomez is a member of the USA Judo Hall of Fame.
