John Boynton played for the USA team in the 1928 Olympic lacrosse demonstration. Boynton was a player at John Hopkins University. He played third defense. Boynton also played football at Hopkins.
Boynton later became an insurance agent, working for Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance. He was a president of the Baltimore General Agents and Managers Association. He retired in August 1969 and turned his agency over to his son. Boynton was active in political and civic affairs and helped promote the Baltimore Colts when the franchise moved to Baltimore.
