Marty Davis

Marty Davis attended Renssellaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) from 1941-43, but then left to serve as a Naval Aviator in World War II from 1943-46. He returned to RPI where he played football and lacrosse, captaining the RPI lacrosse team that played in the 1948 lacrosse demonstration event at the London Olympics. Davis later did graduate work in physiology and biochemistry at George Washington University, and received a masters’ degree in physiology. He 1954 he received his MD degree from George Washington, and later served on the faculty there and at Yale as an anesthesiologist. In 1967 he became chief of anesthesiology at Samaritan Hospital, serving in that role until 1987.

He was a Diplomat of the National Board of Medicine and the American Board of Anesthesiology and a Fellow of the American College of Anesthesiology. Davis was a member of the American Medical Association, the Medical Society of New York State, the Rensselaer County Medical Society, New York State Academy of Science, the American Society of Anesthesiology, the New York State Society of Anesthesiology, the Capitol District Society of Anesthesiology, the Canadian Society of Anesthesiology, and the International Society of Research and Anesthesia.
