Biography

Bob Koch served as a pilot in the United States Navy during World War II prior to attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) from 1946 through 1950. During that time, he was a member of the lacrosse team and was selected for numerous honors, including All-American in 1949 and All-North in 1950. His most notable journey, however, came after he was chosen as a member of the squad that represented the United States in the lacrosse demonstration event at the 1948 Summer Olympics. In London, the American delegation tied the All-English team 5-5. After obtaining his engineering degree, Koch worked as a construction engineer before embarking upon a three-decade career as a steamfitter in Newark, New Jersey. During his spare time, he coached little league baseball.
