Bill Tully played pelota Basque at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, finishing sixth in frontenis, doubles. Tully went to college at Notre Dame where he was an All-American in tennis and track, and as captain, led the 1948 tennis team to the NCAA Championship. He played tennis all his life, winning 22 US Tennis Association championships, and winning the 1948 Canadian Singles title. Among his national titles were four US Grandfather-Grandson Championships with three different grandsons. Tully was inducted into the Westchester County Sports Hall of Fame in 1995 and the USTA Eastern Hall of Fame in 1999.
