Jean Driscoll

Jean Driscoll competed in the 800 metres wheelchair demonstration event at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics, placing second both times. Driscoll won 12 medals, including five golds, at the Paralympics. She was best known as a marathon racer, winning the Boston Marathon eight times, including seven consecutive wins in 1990-96, followed by another in 2000.

Driscoll was born with spina bifida, which forced her to use a wheelchair for ambulation. She later attended college at the University of Illinois, and was on staff there for almost 30 years. She then took a position at North Carolina State University as the executive director of the College of Design.
