Flatwater canoeist Gertrude Liebhart won the silver medal at the 1950 World Championships over 500 metres in the kayak doubles with Fritzi Schwingl. The pair had also won the bronze medal in the same event in 1948. At the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, Liebhart competed in the kayak singles and won the silver medal over 500 metres. She was the niece of Karl Molnar.
