Travis Brown was a mountain biker who raced for the USA at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He competed in the first mountain bike World Championships in Durango, Colorado in 1990, placing 10th, and eventually competed at 10 World Championships. He won the 1999 NORBA US Cross-Country title and the 2002 US Open Cyclo-Cross Championship.
Brown attended the University of Colorado where he was a cross-country skier on the ski team, graduating with a microbiology degree in 1993. He was named an All-American and helped Colorado win the NCAA team title in skiing. He began mountain biking in 1989 as a way to train for skiing. A well-rounded cyclist he also raced on the roads and in cyclo-cross, competing for the Trek Racing Team while racing professionally for 15 years. He later worked for Trek in their mountain bike research & development division. Brown was inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame.
