Ditte Kotzian was an artistic gymnast before she made the move to diving and went on to win the bronze medal in the synchronized springboard at the 2008 Beijing Games with Heike Fischer. It was the highlight of her Olympic career, having failed to win a medal at both Sydney in 2000, and Athens four years later. Kotzian also won two silver medals (2005, 2007) and one bronze (2001) in synchronized springboard at the World Championships.
In 2002, Kotzian had her greatest year, winning a gold medal in both the synchronized springboard and platform events at the European Championships. She also won six silver medals between 2002-08. Kotzian was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award. Domestically, she won 30 national titles and retired after the 2009 season. She studied sports science with the main focus on high performance sport and pedagogics.
