German diver Dörte Lindner surprisingly won the springboard bronze medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. She also came seventh with Conny Schmalfuß in the synchronized springboard event. At European Championships, Lindner won three silver medals, one in 1995 and two in 2000, as well as a bronze in 1997.
Lindner was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award. Domestically, she won seven national titles.
