Arlene Stevens was an épée fencer who competed at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. As a youth she practiced both ballet and gymnastics and started fencing with the foil, but she improved dramatically when she switched to épée.
Stevens fenced in college at St. John’s University, where she was a four-time All-American and was runner-up at the 2001 NCAA Championships. Stevens won the US Championship in épée in 1998 and 1999.
