Craig Lussi came from one of the first families of US winter sports. His father, Gustav Lussi, became a well-respected coach of American figure skaters, coaching 16 World Champions and seven Olympic medalists. Gustav Lussi had been a ski jumper in his native Switzerland and taught Craig, who competed for the US in ski jumping and Nordic combined for several years while attending the University of Denver. Craig Lussi’s niece, Katrine Lussi-Kroes later became a member of the US freestyle ski team from 1991-96.
