Paul Dresse de Lebiòles had a degree in philosophy and literature, but began his literary career during his studies, before becoming familiar with Parisian publishers. As a novelist, he published (1956-65) the five-volume saga of an upper class family from Lièges which, between 1792 to 1920, examined the industrial, political and cultural life of the family. Dresse himself came from an old family of gunsmiths. In 1975, the drama Sébastien de Portugal ou Le capitaine de Dieu appeared in print. Over the years, he also published several anthologies with poetry. He was also active as a literature critic, particularly of contemporaries that he knew personally. Dresse also brought together a major collection of paintings. His Four Poems on Sporting Subjects may have been part of his collection Vingt et un poèmes (Twenty-One Poems), published in 1932 in Liège.
