Médard Tytgat was a Belgian painter, lithographer, book illustrator, and poster artist. After spending some time at the academy in Bruges, he began his education at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels in 1890. In 1898, he was one of the founding members of the Labeur group of artists. He became known for his depictions of landscapes, nudes, and portraits, but especially for his graphic work and his posters. His brother Edgard also became a painter.
