German calligrapher Rudolf Koch was educated as an engraver, painter, and draftsman in Hanau, Nürnberg, and München. He designed numerous font metrics, such as Gothic, fracture, chancery, but also Antiqua, and italics, as well as script fonts for schools. He also worked as a graphic artist, especially for the Insel-Verlag. A second area was the renewal.
Koch became one of the best-known German calligraphers ever. He taught at the Arts and Crafts School in Offenbach and after World War I, in 1918, opened a workshop, training pupils in typography, calligraphy, wood-cutting, and other craft-based skills. His other focus was the renewal of ecclesiastical arts and crafts.
The poem transcribed by Rudolf Koch was Speerkampf (Spear Fight) by Karl Schenk, which was also submitted in the literature section. Unfortunately, no further information about the poem is available.
