Hungary-born medalist Elisabeth of Esseö studied in Berlin, Florence and Munich since 1911. She primarily created small sculptures, medals and plaques. During World War I, her medals dealt with themes from Austria-Hungary, at times with a strong connection to World War I and the military leaders involved. For many years she worked in München. Obviously, she was classified as German because she lived there at the time of the Amsterdam Olympics.
