Frantz Heldenstein’s brother Willy Heldenstein took part as a bobsledder at the Olympics 1928 in St. Moritz. They came from a family of culture enthusiasts. Frantz was a sculptor and interior architect. After attending the Limpertsberg industrial school, he continued his studies in Germany and Paris. As early as in 1925 he ultimately settled in Luxembourg and took over the family business Settegast. After that, he only pursued his art in his spare time. In 1924, he won the silver medal at the Paris Olympics with his sculpture Vers l’Olympiade (Toward the Olympic Games). The sculpture was a plaster model of 1.85 m in size. It was presented shortly thereafter just once. It was not cast in bronze before 2008 for an exhibition in Luxembourg and is now exhibited in the Sports and Cultural Center Coque. He also used the same motif for a bas-relief. His daughter Huguette Etienne-Heldenstein (* 1926) also became a sculptor.
