Dutch painter Engelina Hameetman-Schlette, born as Engelina Schlette, painted in watercolors and oil. She mostly produced figures, portraits, flowers and still-lifes. She studied in her hometown Den Haag, but in 1903 received a royal scholarship for further studies in München. There she met the famous German portrait painter Franz von Lenbach (1836-1904). She later also spent time in England and Paris, where she was awarded the Prix d’ excellence in 1906. Her husband was the vocational schoolteacher Reinder Pieter Gerardus Hameetman. An illustration of her oil painting Female Tennis Player is shown in a 1928 issue of “Sport in Beeld”.
