Bolesław Surałło was a Polish painter, graphic designer and poster artist. He was also known as an interior designer, and film and theater set designer . Surałło studied at the Municipal School of Decorative Arts and Painting and the School of Fine Arts in Warszawa. Starting in 1936, he worked as a lecturer at the State School of Graphic Industry. He later founded the AGAR graphic arts studio. Surałło died tragically in the first days of World War II during transport of the iconic painting “Battle of Grunwald” by Jan Matejko (1838-1893), while he was hiding it from the Germans.
