As of 2023, the painter Jay Maddox has not be identified. According to the art catalog, he lived in Philadelphia at the time of the 1932 Olympics. His work was mentioned in a 1933 newspaper report about an exhibition of paintings from the art competitions. It shows Gallant Fox (1927-1954), one of the most successful American racehorses around 1930.
