American sculptor and painter Elizabeth Mason was known for her very realistic and historically accurate Western depictions, her historic grounds illustrations, and sculptures of Indian life. She studied painting and jewelry design at the Art Students League in New York. She later became Curator of the Santa Barbara Historical Society.
