Eiho Sato was a student of Seiko Kawasaki at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. He won the first prize of the Japan Art Academy Award at the 12th Emperor’s Exhibition. From Kawasaki the Suginami (Tokyo municipality) resident learned the history painting. His favorite motives were persons, in particular Kabuki actors. His painting of a Swimming Competition can be seen faintly in outline on a general view of the Japanese exhibition hall in Berlin.
