Evelyn Batchelder was in 1919 the first woman to be inducted into the National Academy of Design. Her 1928 figure “Victory” was shown at the International Louisiana Purchase Exposition in 1904 in St. Louis, so she just took part “hors concours” in the 1928 Art Competitions.
