Karin Jarl-Sakellarios was an Austrian sculptor, mainly a ceramist. She was the daughter of sculptor Otto Jarl (1856-1915), who was born in Sweden but then moved to Austria, and who was well-known for his animal sculptures. Karin herself worked for long years for the Wiener Porzellanmanufaktur Augarten (Vienna Porcelain Manufactory Augarten), and porcelain manufacturers Goldscheider, and also created mainly animal porcelain figures. Her best known figures were the ones from the Spanish Riding School of Wien (Vienna) in the succession of Albin Döbrich. Many works were created in collaboration with her husband, the sculptor Victor Sakellarios (1884-?). The 25 cm high and nearly 1 kg heavy Baroque horse was created in 1937 in white, glazed porcelain.
