Thorvald Norling

Thorvald Norling was born in Göteborg but lived in Malmö and competed for Malmö AI. He was on top of the Swedish ranking in the low hurdles from 1916-19 and held the Swedish record in the 400 m hurdles from 1916-21. Norling won two titles in the Swedish championships, in the 100 m hurdles in 1914 and the 400 m hurdles two years later. Correspondingly, he was entered for the 110 m hurdles at the 1912 Olympics and for the 400 m hurdles eight years later in Antwerpen but did not start either time. Internationally, he represented Sweden in the 1914 Baltic Games, amongst others. In the 1920, he worked as a coach in Warszawa (Warsaw) for some years. Later, he was a merchant in Malmö.
