Entered in the 1956 Melbourne Olympic 100 metres, Walter Tschudi did not end up competing. He was primarily a multi-athlete who trained for the decathlon and placed fifth in that event at the 1958 European Championships. Tschudi was voted Swiss Sportsman of the Year in 1957. He represented the Leichathletik-Club Zürich (LCZ) from 1956, and after his competitive career ended, served as a director of that club from 1962-69.
