Chad Senior

Chad Senior was a modern pentathlete who competed at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games. Senior was the 1999 World Biathle Champion (run-swim-run) and won a silver medal at the 2003 Pan American Games in modern pentathlon.

In high school Senior ran track and cross-country and was on the swim team. He attended George Washington University on a swim scholarship. After graduation Senior joined the United States Army’s Elite Athlete Program.

Senior’s first major win was at the 1999 Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) World Championship team event. He was second individually at the 2000 CISM Championships, and that year he had a first, third, and fourth place finish at World Cup events. He entered the 2000 Olympic Games ranked #1 in the world so his failure to make the podium was a surprise.

Senior continued as a career military officer, reaching the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the US Air Force by 2018 as a Combat Rescue Officer with the 920th Rescue Wing. Senior served two tours in Afghanistan and one in Iraq.
