Glenn Eller is one of the United States’ most decorated trap shooters, appearing at five Olympic Games from 2000 to 2016, and winning the gold medal in double trap at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. A top shooter since his youth, starting at age eight, Eller was the first American to win the British Open Sporting Clay junior title, which he did in 1996.
Eller competed at the 2000 Sydney Olympics right out of high school. He then attended Auburn University, graduating in 2004. He became a member of the US Army Marksmanship Unit, stationed mostly at Fort Benning, Georgia, and reached the rank of Sergeant First Class.
Eller was gold medalist at the 2011 Pan American Games in double trap. At the World Championships he won 12 medals between 2001-18, with seven golds: 2001, 2006, and 2009 double trap team; and 2003 and 2013 double trap, individual and team. He added three silver medals and two bronze medals at the Worlds.
