Courtney Shealy won two gold medals in swimming at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, winning in the 4x100 freestyle relay and the medley relay. She also competed in the 100 metre backstroke but did not make the final. Shealy also won silver medals in the two relays at the 2001 World Championships. She won gold medals in the 100 freestyle and the 4x100 metre freestyle at the 2003 Pan American Games.
Shealy swam in college at the University of Georgia, where she won five NCAA titles, earned All-American honors 26 times, and was a 19-time Southeastern Conference Champion. After graduating she earned a master’s degree in sports administration from Georgia.
As Courtney Hart, she became a coach, first serving as an assistant at the University of North Florida in 2006-07. She then moved to Georgia Tech University as an assistant and in 2009 was named the head coach at Georgia Tech.
Shealy-Hart was inducted into the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010 and the Georgia Aquatic Hall of Fame in 2013.
