Biography

Chinese tennis player Li Ting competed professionally from 1996 to 2007 primarily as a doubles specialist. Li achieved a career-best singles ranking of #136 in the world in February 2005 and a doubles ranking of #19 in the world in October 2004. Although she never won a singles title on the WTA Tour, she did win nine doubles titles between 2000 and 2006. Her first title came at the 2000 Tashkent Open in Uzbekistan with partner Li Na, with her other eight titles coming with Sun Tiantian. The Li-Sun partnership would also triumph at the 2004 Athina Olympics where the pair won gold, beating the Spanish duo of Conchita Martínez and Vivi Ruano in straight sets. One year after the Olympics Li and Sun reached the doubles quarter-finals at the French Open.
