Biography

The career of former professional tennis player Dušan Vemic spanned from 1995 to 2011, with him representing three countries; Yugoslavia (1995–2003), Serbia and Montenegro (2003–06), and Serbia (2006–11). Vemic achieved a career-best singles ranking of #146 in the world in February 2008 and a doubles ranking of #31 in the world in January 2009. As a doubles specialist he won 16 titles on the ATP Challenger and ITF Futures Circuit from 1997 to 2011, along with three singles titles.

In 2008 Vemic reached the doubles semi-finals at the French Open with the Brazilian player Bruno Soares, but lost to the eventual champions of Pablo Cuevas (URU) and Luis Horna (PER). Two years later he reached the semi-finals at the Australian Open with Ivo Karlović of Croatia, but lost in straight sets to Daniel Nestor (CAN) and Nenad Zimonjić (SRB). Vemic and Zimonjić had earlier played together in the doubles at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
