Sean Kern was a water polo player who competed for the USA at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Kern played in college at UCLA, leading the Bruins to NCAA titles in 1999 and 2000 and graduating in 2002. He led the Bruins in scoring for three of his four years. Kern received the Peter J. Cutino Award as the top collegiate water polo player in the first two years it was awarded.
Kern joined the US National Team in 1999 and played that year at the World University Games. In 2016 he was later inducted into the Punahou School Hall of Fame, where he went to high school.
