Chi Kredell was a water polo player who competed for the USA at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He also won gold medals in the sport at the 1995 and 1999 Pan American Games. He competed at the 1994 and 1998 World Championships and the 1994 Goodwill Games.
Kredell attended college at Long Beach State (California State University at Long Beach). In 1993 he was named an All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation first team, after being named to the second team in 1991, and honorable mention in 1990. As a senior, he was a third team All-American. Kredell later became director for Long Beach Shore Aquatics. His unusual name came from his father, Ron Kredell, who moved from Chicago as a boy, and was nicknamed “Chi” Kredell.
