Biography

Ericka Lorenz was a water polo player who won two Olympic medals, a silver in 2000 and a bronze in 2004, with the United States team. She won three medals at the World Championships, with golds in 2003 and 2007 sandwiched around a 2005 silver. Lorenz also claimed gold at the 2003 Pan American Games.

Lorenz attended U Cal Berkeley where she played water polo, but she suspended her academic pursuits to play international water polo. In addition to the US National Team Lorenz played professionally in Italy with Ortigia-Siracusa. In high school she had played both softball and volleyball. After her playing career she stayed close to the water, first as a lifeguard in Huntington Beach, California, and later serving as an Ocean Lifeguard Specialist for Los Angeles County.
