Biography

Dick Mize attended Western State College where he competed in cross-country skiing. Joining the Army after college, he was stationed at Fort Richardson in Alaska, where he started competing in biathlon. After his discharge he stayed in the Anchorage, Alaska region, teaching at East High School. He also coached cross-country running and skiing, and helped in the design and construction of multiple ski trails over a 40-year period. He also continued to compete in cross-country skiing in Masters meets for many years.
