Biography

Lars Molin took up hockey in 1973 with MoDo AIK and won the Swedish title with them in 1979. In 1981, Molin signed a contract with the Vancouver Canucks as a free agent and spent three seasons with them, playing in 172 games and scoring 33 goals. In 1984, Molin returned to Sweden and again played with MoDo AIK. He finished his career with Örebro HK from 1988-91. Internationally, Molin won Olympic bronzes in 1980 and 1988, was a World Champion in 1987 and won a silver medal at the 1981 World Championships. He also won silver at the 1981 European Championships. Molin was awarded the Stora Grabbars Märke (Big Boys’ Badge) #117 in ice hockey. After finishing his playing career, Molin worked as an ice hockey coach. He has been head coach of IF Björklöven (1998-99), Swedish national junior team (1999-00), Storhamar Dragons in Norway (2002-03), SHC Fassa in Italy (2006-07), IF Björklöven junior team (2007-11) and in 2012 he became head coach of Kiruna IF.
