Biography

Alois Morgenstern, uncle of ski jumper Thomas Morgenstern, was an Austrian alpine skier who participated in the 1976 Innsbruck Winter Olympics. He could not finish the second run of the giant slalom, and placed seventh in the slalom event. Four years earlier he had won the slalom gold medal at the Youth European Championships.

Morgenstern turned to football coaching after his active skiing career with the lower league club FC Lensdorf. His sons Christoph and Martin became professional footballers in the Austrian Bundesliga second division.
