Jim Moriarty often slid doubles with his brother John. Both attended the University of Minnesota and together they were the 1974 North American doubles champions, placing third in that event in 1975. Jim Moriarty also slid singles, finishing second in the North Americans in 1975. Moriarty later became President of the US Luge Association.
