Dick Movitz skied for the University of Utah, winning the 1946 and 1947 NCAA slalom title. He also represented the Alta Ski Club in Utah, for whom he won the 1946 US slalom title, and in 1947 was third in the slalom and combined at the US Ski Championships. After competing at the 1950 World Championships in slalom and GS, Movitz became a ski administrator, serving as chairman of the US Ski Association’s International Competitions Committee and as an official at the 1960 Squaw Valley Winter Olympics. He was inducted into the US Ski Hall of Fame in 1970 and the Utah Sports Hall of Fame in 1975. He ran a family business, Movitz Company, which was a wholesale costume jewelry distributor and a local Seiko distributor. Movitz served in the US Air Force during World War II.
