Biography
Geir Myhre was one of the legends in Norwegian hockey. He played in two Olympics, several World championships and a total of 48 official international matches for Norway. He won the Gullpucken as the best Norwegian player in both 1980 and 1982. Myhre won the national title three times (in the play-off); with Hasle-Løren in 1976, Vålerenga 1982, Sparta 1984. He also won the national league with Trondheim IK in 1989. Myhre also played for Grüner Ishockey.
After he retired Myhre coached Vålerenga to three consecutive national titles 1991-93, and Lillehammer to the title in 1994. He also coached at Stjernen and Manglerud Star and the national side 1994-96. He was regarded as a really tough coach who demanded the maximum performance from his players. Myhre died suddenly whilst on holiday in Spain.
