Biography
Gerhard Oechsle was a member of the four-man bob West Germany I, which finished ninth at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics. One year earlier this bob had won a silver medal with the four-man bob at the World Championships. Like many other bobsleigh athletes, Oechsle started his career as a sprinter and had a personal best of 10.9 over 100 m, and 22.4 over 200 m. By profession, Oechsle trained as an optician but later owned a fitness, rehabilitation and sports center at Geislingen.
