Larry Palmer received a commission to the U.S. Military Academy from which he graduated in 1959. After leaving West Point, he put in his required three years in the service, but found time to play on the 1960 Olympic team as well as the 1961 U.S. team at the World Championships. Palmer left the army in 1964 and had a very successful career as an investment banker and counselor
