Martin Platzer was an Austrian ice hockey defence who participated in the 1984 Sarajevo and 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. On both occasions, the Austrian team was eliminated in the group stage. In total, Platzer won 30 international caps scoring one goal and two assists.
Domestically, Platzer played with Villacher SV (1978-83), ECS Innsbruck (1983-84), Innsbrucker EV (1984-85, 1986-88, 1989-91), VEU Feldkirch (1985-86), GEV Innsbruck (1988-89), Wiener (Vienna) EV (1991-92), and Klagenfurter AC (1992-93). In 1989, Platzer won the Austrian national championship with GEV Innsbruck. His son Patrick also became an ice hockey international. Platzer studied economics during and after his career and became a marketing manager for sponsorship within sport and other mediums.
