Biography

An engineer from London, kayaker Bob Lowery was one of three Richmond Canoe Club members to go to the 1960 Roma Olympics along with Ted Cronk and Marianne Tucker. Lowery competed in the 4 x 500 metres relay, and four years later at Tokyo, he took part in the kayak fours 1,000 metres. On both occasions the British quartet was eliminated at the semi-final stage after finishing fourth and last each time.

Lowery won the 1963 British kayak pairs title with Olympic team-mate Cronk. In 1993 Lowery became a director and secretary of the Royal Canoe Club Trust.
