Herb Taylor represented the Iceland Skating Club of New York at the 1932 Olympics. At the time of the Lake Placid Olympics he lived in Woodside, Long Island. At the Olympics, he was leading the 1,500 metre race on the final lap, when he fell and finished last of the finalists, enabling Jack Shea to move ahead and win. In 1933 he competed for the United States in a dual meet in Oslo against Norway.
