A member of the Toronto Graduates, Ross Taylor was a member of the team that captured the Allan Cup, given annually to the champions of the senior amateur men’s ice hockey competition, in 1927 and was then sent to the 1928 Winter Olympics to represent Canada, where it won the gold medal. A defenseman, he played in three games and scored two goals in the Olympic tournament. Prior to joining the Toronto Graduates, he had played with the Toronto Canoe Club of the Ontario Hockey Association and had been recruited by Eddie Livingstone in 1926 to play for the American Hockey Association’s Chicago Cardinals in his attempt to rival the National Hockey League.
