Reinhard Tritscher was an Alpine skier who raced all three events on the program at the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics, finishing eighth in the giant slalom. Tritscher had 35 top-10 finishes in World Cup races, with four victories, three of which came in his best year, 1969. He was second that season in the World Cup giant slalom, and third in the overall World Cup. Tritscher was Austrian Champion in the giant slalom in 1968 and the combined in 1975. Tritscher died tragically after a severe fall in a climbing accident on the Scheichenspitze.
