Sprint canoeist Elke Felten finished an unfortunate fourth at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics in the K1-500. In 1964 Felten won a K4 silver medal at the World Championships. Domestically she won the 1965 K4 West German title with Bertasee Duisburg. Felten also had 13 other podiums in various events, with eight silver and five bronze medals.
