Biography
Miroslav Vlach was a left wing who spent most of his high-level career with HC Vítkovice in the Czechoslovakian league, playing with them from 1956-67, before finishing his career with two seasons with Innsbrucker EV in Austria, retiring in 1970. He later was head coach of Vítkovice TJ from 1972-74. Internationally Vlach played at the 1960 and 1964 Winter Olympics, winning a bronze medal in 1964. He played at four World Championships, winning a silver medal in 1961 and bronze medals in 1957, 1959, and 1963. In both 1961 and 1963 Vlach was named to the All-Star team at the Worlds. His cousin, Rostislav Vlach, had a long career in the Czech leagues, and was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL, but never played in North America.
