German flatwater canoeist Anke Nothnagel partnered Birgit Fischer-Schmidt at the 1988 Seoul Olympics in the K-2 500, and they won the gold medal representing East Germany. Under her married name, von Seck, she then partnered Ramona Portwich at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, representing re-unified Germany, and again won the gold medal. With the K-4 500 she also won gold in 1988, and silver in 1992.
At the ICF Flatwater Canoe World Championships, von Seck won ten gold medals between 1987-91, all in K-2 or K-4 500. In 1987 she won her only East German individual national title beating Birgit Fischer-Schmidt in the K-1 500. She also won three more titles in other events. By profession, von Seck became a teacher for sport and biology at a grammar school in Dachau near München. She also worked as a canoe coach with KG München.
